Chief of Police

Chief Darrell Basco is a lifelong resident of Pineville.  He began his career at the Pineville Police Department in 1994 as a Communications Officer and a Reserve Police Officer.  He has worked in several divisions at the Pineville Police Department serving as a patrol officer, a patrol supervisor, criminal investigator.  He has served as the training coordinator, Executive Officer of the Patrol Bureau and the Public Information Officer.

He is a 1989 graduate of Pineville High School, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Louisiana College and received his Master’s degree from Capella University in 2005.

He is a member of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement, a member of the Body Worn Camera Task Force, and currently serves as State President of the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police.

He is married to Lynne who works for the Louisiana Military Department and has one daughter Mallory who is a graduate of UL Lafayette.
